Changeovers are noisy. Verbal warnings about a warm press or a suspect lot disappear under the sound of the next crew arriving.
Use a fixed three-line handoff: open holds, stations under watch, and parts waiting for quality release. Anything longer gets skipped when the floor is late.
Keep the handoff sheet at the supervisor desk, not in a shared drive that requires a password reset at 6 a.m. Paper still wins on many Thai plant floors for this reason.
Walk the incoming supervisor past any hold rack before the outgoing supervisor leaves. Seeing the parts matters more than reading the note alone.
Review handoff sheets once a week with both crews. Patterns in the notes often reveal a station that needs tooling attention before scrap rises again.
